Bathroom Wall Mirrors

Whatever your bathroom decor, you can accent it with different mirrors for different functions. Bathroom wall mirrors come in many different styles today. Chrome-edged bathroom mirrors and medicine cabinets set into the wall were popular through the 1950s. Modern mirrors often reflect other times, such as the beveled mirror with a heavy mahogany frame reminiscent of the 1890s or the mirror pinned flat against the wall with shiny stainless steel pegs reminiscent of London in the 1920s.

Mirrors For Different Uses

Whatever your bathroom decor, you can accent it with different mirrors for different functions. You might want a wall mirror, or a mirror to sit on the vanity. You can also have a mirror that extends from the shower wall. If you have plenty of floor space, you might want a freestanding model.

No fogging mirrors are ideal for the bathroom. A magnifying swivel mirror on a shelf or wall with a scissors mount is perfect for applying makeup or cutting your hair. Counter mirrors can be adapted for many uses.

They are used frequently. Wall-mounted models, especially, endure a lot of wear and tear. One thing you don’t want is for the mirror to fall off the wall while you’re shaving or cutting your hair. You want them to be secure. The type of fasteners you should use depends not only on the surface of the wall, but on what’s behind it. Don’t assume you know for sure! Drywall screws, however, work very well on brick, wallboard, concrete, and plaster. Before fastening a mirror to tile, you need to drill the holes with the right size and type of bit. If you want to install an electric no fogging mirror, it would probably be best to have an electrician or handyman do it for you.

The  mirrors that you select for your home will have a direct impact on the room’s ambience. They serve both a practical and decorative function and are one of the most important elements to consider when decorating a bathroom. When shaving or applying makeup  mirrors are of the utmost importance. Without having a good mirror, you won’t be able to perform these tasks in a quick and efficient manner. They are vital as they ensure that you can complete these tasks in the most competent manner.

Not only are  mirrors a practical fixture in bathrooms, but they are also an important choice for your interior design. The shape, size, color, and style of your mirror should complement the rest of the bathroom’s decor. Consider the color of the wall when choosing the mirror as well. If your bathroom walls are very light, consider choosing mirrors with dark borders or frames. This will cause the mirror to stand out and creates a central focal point in the room. Likewise, if your bathroom walls are dark, choose light framed mirrors for a nice contrast.

Mirrors help create the illusion of space in a bathroom. If you have a bathroom that is small in size, consider adding a large  mirror. The mirror will enhance the dimensions of the room, and create a visual illusion that gives the look and feel of space. If your bathroom has windows consider choosing a  mirror that has a frame that will complement the architectural design of the windows. If the bathroom doesn’t have windows, you’ll need to consider your lighting in addition to mirrors.

Windows can provide a great deal of ambient, or overall lighting in a bathroom, however, if your bathroom doesn’t have windows, choose lighting fixtures that will provide the light you need without competing for space with the mirrors. For many, choosing a mirror that have built in light is a great way to ensure that you have the lighting needed for up close tasks.
